今週のアジア 3/29〜4/4:インドのモバイル動向:激安スマホとスペクトラム・オークション

今週の Cloud News Asia で目立っていたのは、インドにおける 3/31 の激安スマホの発表です。 まず、Micromax が Bolt S300 のオンライン販売を開始しましたが、価格は Rs 3,300 ($53) とのことです。 それに続いて、Asus が Zenfone 2 を 4月にリリースし、Xiaomi も廉価版スマホを 4/8 にリリースすると発表しています。

また、その他の目立った動きとしては、3/29 に Xiaomi がスマホを店頭で販売すると発表しています。 ちょっと、中国国内の動きが見えませんが、海外でのオフライン販売となると、インドが始めてになるのでしょう。 そして、Motorola も同じような展開を見せています。
 
その一方で、スペクトラム・オークションに関連するニュースも数多く報道されていました。 その内容を、詳細まで把握できているわけではありませんが、全体のトーンとしては、渋々ながらも入札するテレコム各社を、インド政府が急かしているという感じがします。以下が、そのリストです・・・

① 3/31: TCS, Infosys, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra in race to buy US IT firm
IndiaWhile the Indian IT firms are getting aggressive in buying smaller ticket size companies in the US, sources with direct knowledge share that one such candidate, Sierra-Cedar with HQ in Georgia, US is close to launching a sale process soon. Valuation expectation for a complete sale of Sierra-Cedar is pegged at around $350 million, a source said.
 
② 4/2: Asia-Pacific Cyber Security Market 2015-2019 – Cloud-based Solutions
APACThe analysts forecast the Cyber Security market in the APAC region to grow at a CAGR of 15.15 percent over the period 2014-2019. Demand for cloud-based security solutions is one key trend emerging in this market. End-users prefer cloud-based security solutions because they are cost-effective and can be easily managed. Therefore, both large enterprises and SMEs in the APAC region are increasingly adopting cloud-based cyber security solutions.
 
③ 4/2: What is going on with Chinese EC site Wowo’s long-delayed IPO?
ChinaChinese ecommerce and daily deals site Wowo (also known as 55tuan) is having a bit of a bumpy ride on its way to the US market. Wowo has been planning a US IPO for some time now, and was originally scheduled to list on the NASDAQ under the tag WOWO back in February. But that date came and went without an IPO. So did a subsequent date in March. Now, the company is reportedly scheduled for an April 1 IPO. But there are signs that might not come off either.
 
④ 1/28: Inotera on schedule to transition to 20nm process technology
TaiwanInotera Memories is making progress in transitioning to a newer 20nm node technology, according to the Taiwan-based DRAM memory maker. Industry observers recently indicated that four-gigabit DDR4 memory is unlikely to become mainstream for PCs until the first quarter of 2016, due to some chipmakers’ difficulty in transitioning to 20nm process technology that requires huge capital investments. Micron Technology has been identified as one of the suppliers facing the difficulty.
 
⑤ 4/2: Microsoft to Offer Free Cloud Service to Chinese Start-ups
ChinaMicrosoft has announed it plans to offer 100 million yuan worth of free cloud-computing services and software tools to 100 Chinese startups. The promotion is seen as bid to bolster its cloud-computing business in China. The new initiative will be launched in the next 6-months. Start-ups involved will have access to Microsoft’s Azure cloud-computing service, software and development tools.
 
⑥ 3/28: Oracle to hire 1,000 in Asia-Pacific, 300 in India
IndiaBENGALURU: Global datebase software product major Oracle has announced that it would hire about 1,000 people across Asia-Pacific (APAC) to expand and strengthen its sales force in the region. “About 300 of the specialized sales force will be hired in India for cloud and the expansion will help us to drive growth and support demand for our cloud solutions across the region,” the US-based multinational said in a statement here.
 
⑦ 3/25: Cloud association study lifts the veil on Asia’s SMEs
APACIT is a mantra uttered so often that it has become a commonly accepted statement of fact: That Asia will power the new global economy. “It’s become such a buzz topic,” said Lim May-Ann, executive director of the Asia Cloud Computing Association, who spoke to Digital News Asia (DNA) in Manila. “If we accept that Asia is going to be the engine of the new economy, and also that 99.95% of companies in the region are small and medium enterprises (SMEs), then it stands to reason that SMEs are going to be the ones powering the new economy.
 
⑧ 3/14: Xiaomi MiPad and budget Redmi 2 set to launch in India
IndiaAt an event this morning in Delhi, Chinese gadget maker Xiaomi revealed that its tablet, the MiPad, and the updated version of its cheapest phone, the Redmi 2, are set to launch in India on March 24. The budget-oriented Redmi 2 first launched in China in January, while the MiPad dates back to May 2014.
 
⑨ 3/31: Spotify comes to PlayStation, replaces Sony’s Music Unlimited
JapanNEW YORK: Spotify is coming to the PlayStation, replacing Sony’s own Music Unlimited service, as the company continues to expand the game console into an entertainment hub beyond video games. Spotify hits the PlayStation 3 and 4 on Monday, with a new app adapted for large television screens. Sony says partnering with Spotify expands its music service to 41 countries, rather than the 19 available with Music Unlimited, and offers better tools for playlists and music discovery.
 
⑩ 3/31: NewSat forced to halt trading over satellite funding
TaiwanNewSat has been forced to halt trading on the Australian Stock Exchange as it continues to battle to have funding for its Jabiru-1 satellite project reinstated. The company revealed mid-last year that financing for the satellite project had been put on hold over “alleged technical or documentary breaches of financial facilities” related to the drawdown of its loan from Ever Tycoon.

cna_6昨日 (4/3) のことですが、Venture Beat が「Google and Mozilla decide to ban Chinese certificate authority CNNIC from Chrome and Firefox」という記事をポストしていました。エジプトの MCS Holdings という中間認証局(CA)から発行された、不正なデジタル証明書が発見され、そこに CNNIC が関連しているため、Google と CNNIC が共同で調査を行ったとのことです、その結果、これから CNNIC が発行するルート証明書を、Google サービスでは認識しないことにし、それに Mozilla も追随するということです。 その一方では、Microsoft が中国のスタートアップに対して、無償でクラウド・サービスを提供したり、Github に対して中国から大規模な DDoS が仕掛けられたりと、この二国の間に、さまざまな出来事が起こっています。_AC Stamp
